A.What does the source tell you?
Always a short answer worth only 3 marks. Make at least three different points.
B. How USEFUL questions can be worth up to 9 marks
How Useful a source is, depends on what question you are asking of it. (e.g. How useful is source A (a poster of Hitler) for understanding why people supported him).
Useful type answers must always consider why it may not be considered useful
Always consider what extra information you may need in addition to that provided by the source.
C. How do the sources COMPARE? And Do you AGREE (Disagree)?
Can be worth 6-10 marks
Read sources with care to find areas of agreement/disagreement. Extract evidence from the source and/or your own information to show how they contrast.
D. How ACCURATE is the source? Worth 6 marks
It is essential to assess the provenance of the source. Assess for bias. Contrast with other sources. Contrast with you knowledge.
