What is a drainage basins?

A drainage basin is an area of land drained by a main river and its tributaries

Its boundary, marked by a ridge of higher land, is called a watershed.

A watershed, therefore separates on drainages basin from neighboring drainage basins

The can be enormous or very small

 

What is drainage density?

The size of the drainage basin is less important than the drainage density.

What is a confluence?

A confluence is where two ( or more ) rivers meet

It is usually y shaped
