Share View PDF | Print View | Views: 753 |

1.It was a dictated peace

  • Germany wasn't at the Versaille discussion
  • Criticisms in writing aloowed - they were ignored
  • TOV is similar to what Germany did at treaty of Brest-Litovosk
2.Many provisions were not based on the 14 pts.
  • Not valid
  • Germany had ingnored 14 points when victory was in sight
  • Many of the terms did comply
3.Loss of Territory in Europe

4. The loss of German African colonies
  • Was just an excuse for Allies to get colonies
5. Dissarmamaent clause deeply resented
  • Not enough men (100,000) to protect and police an unstable country
  • Only Germany dissarmed - not other Allied countries - unfair
6. War guilt clause
  • Unfair - Germans believed they weren't the only ones to blame
  • They didn't mobilise their troops first, Russia did
7. Reparations (6600 million pounds)
  • Too high
  • Germany had also gone through a war, and was devastated by it
  • Germany had lost much of its land, therfore its revenue, making it harder to repay
  • (Note: Young plan in 1929, reduced this to 2000 million pounds)

However if Clemenceau had his way, it would have been harsher.
