The exam is worth 75% of your final mark so It is important you gain every mark you can. The six main areas for revision are:

  1. Business Activity –Types of businesses, aims and objectives, etc

  2. People

  3. Marketing

  4. Finance

  5. Production

  6. External

And you need to remember these sections will split into several sections.

Remember the exam is based around a pre-seen case study – make sure you know the content of this and the definitions of all the key terms on it.

The exam is not just for you to write everything you know about a certain area, it’s to test your understanding. Don’t just describe things, explain how they help or don’t help – this is especially important in the longer answer questions.

Exam tips

  • Re-read the case study

  • Try to include a definition on longer answer questions

  • Relate your answer to the case study so a large business would not use their own savings as a source of finance!

  • Do exactly as the question asks – state, describe, analyse – this is what you’ll get the marks for

  • Match the question length to the marks

  • Aim to fill the space and more if necessary

  • If asked for just a definition always try to give a example related to the case study

  • Show all working in the finance questions

  • Use a pencil for all calculations

  • Don’t leave blanks – go back to it later, you might surprise yourself!

  • The last question is the long one, do you want to tackle this first?

  • If you have time at the end read through your answers to see if you can add more

  • The exam should take you the full 2 hours, plan accordingly

  • There’s also a few marks for the quality of your writing – make sure it’s legible!

If you have attended all lessons and caught up from lessons missed you will have a folder full of notes to base your revision around. You also have a textbook that will help.
