= object orientated language

- HTML - hyper text mark-up language
= the language of the internet
- used to program or write web pages

- low level programming languages are used to program

- assembly language - programming at machine level
- games use assembly language - so games run fast
- systems programmers use it - to control drivers

How programming works

Human = produces code = source code

- code is converted so that the computer can understand it
- there are two methods of conversion
- compiler - this is done all in one
- interpreter - this is done line by line
- these translate the code

PC understands the code = object code

- software development is writing a program in a programming language
such as Visual Basic
